GOING GREEN.........with Tidewater Red Cypress
You hear so much on TV, read in magazine articles and newspapers etc about going GREEN from not using chlorine/bleach and using peroxide instead, to buying cleaners that are good for the enviroment, recycling practically everything except your undies. I buy greeting cards from recycled paper and am a supporter of disposable diapers that disinigrate in landfills. And it so occured to me as we sit in our Tidewater Red Cypress Log Home knowing fully well that the natural cypressene oil in the wood protects our log home and our customers log homes from termites and rot...........is as GREEN as a
person can get. Yet I read about sapwood logs of all flavors that are chemically pressure treated with borate solutions before selling to customers and then customers have to continually treat the logs as long as that home is standing or until it rots - one or the other with sapwood logs.
Tidewater Red Cypress does not require nor need any treatment to NOT rot...EVER. The cypressene oil that is present during its growth stays in the logs forever and is a natural deterrent to bugs and especially termites. So it depends on how GREEN a fellow wants to go........
